What is it and how do you benefit?

The primary benefit of defensive driving is the eligibility for a 10% reduction in the base rate of your automobile and motorcycle insurance premiums for 3 years.

Completing the defensive driving course allows you to reduce up to 4 points from your driving record if you have accumulated points from traffic violations within the last 18 months.

Not only do you benefit from these factors, but you also benefit by being able to complete the course at your own pace within the convenience of your own home, making it easy for busy individuals to fit the course into their busy schedule.

Upon completion of the course, American Safety Institute will mail to you a Certificate of Completion to the address provided and will notify the Department of Motor Vehicles electronically. If eligible DMV automatically applies the point reduction to your driving record

You are responsible for submitting the completion certificate to your insurance company or agent who will then apply it to your insurance policy.
